VT Beahm winter barley is a six-rowed, medium tall, moderately early heading awnless barley having good forage yield potential with high to moderate resistance to leaf rust, net blotch, and Fusarium Head Blight (FHB) and low Deoxynivalenol (DON) accumulation. It has performed well in one or more test environments in Virginia. Most notably, it has expressed moderate resistance to Fusarium Head Blight (FHB) and lower DON accumulation similar to Nomini and lower than Secretariat and Thoroughbred. VT Beahm will provide producers and farmers with a viable alternative to currently grown commercial forage winter barley variety Nomini having higher forage yield, and good to moderate resistance to prevalent disease in the mid-Atalntic and eastern U.S. regions.
