Yorktown Wheat Variety Description

U. S. Variety Protection Applied For

 

Yorktown is a soft red winter wheat that is broadly adapted, high yielding, full-season, short height, and semi-dwarf.  It has significantly high test weight and is later heading.  Plant color is green, and at maturity has yellow colored straw, creamy white colored, slightly tapering strap shaped awnletted spikes. Average mature plant height of Yorktown has varied from 30 to 35 inches.  On average, straw strength is good.   Seed phenol color is brown.   It is resistant to leaf rust and Barley Yellow Dwarf Virus and is resistant to powdery mildew.
