Georgia 09B Peanut Variety Description
U. S. Protected Variety
Can be sold only as a class of Certified seed
Georgia 09B was released by Georgia Agricultural Experiment Station in 2009.  It is a high-oleic, TSWV resistant, medium-seeded, runner type peanut variety.  It was developed at the University of Georgia, Coastal Plain Experiment Station in Tifton, GA.  It has the high-oleic and low linoleic fatty acid ratio for improved oil quality and longer shelf- life of peanut and peanut products.  During the past several years averaged across multi-location tests in Georgia, it was found to be among the lowest one percent TSWV disease incidence, highest in pod yield, highest in TSMK grade and highest in dollar value return per acre compared to other high-oleic, runner-types tested each year.  Only licensed producers may sell this variety for seed and no farmer saved seed is allowed.
