Featherstone 176 Wheat Variety Description

Featherstone 176 is a broadly adapted, high yielding, moderately-early heading, medium stature, awnletted, soft red winter wheat.  Average plant height is 35 inches.  Straw strength is moderately good.  Featherstone 176 has very good milling and baking quality, producing high flour yields and cookies of desirable quality.  It is moderately strong in gluten strength and will likely have application in production of crackers as well as pastries.  It is resistant to powdery mildew, moderately resistant to barley yellow dwarf virus and glume blotch, and has expressed moderate resistance to Fusarium head blight.
